Why may the protective plug BDI-AF only be plugged in vertically?
Our protective plugs should only be plugged directly into wall outlets. With the IP44 model weatherproof protection is only guaranteed in the vertical position, because the switch is additional protected by the hinged lid.
Under what circumstances is it crucial to use Residual Current Devices?
BGI 608 explicitly recommends employing residual current devices for construction site work using electric devices. The use of residual current devices is practical for almost all applications, however. Particularly where cables are subjected to high demands, i.e. on construction sites, in gardens, at camping sites, in agricultural application, in fire-prone areas, in wet, dirty environments
What is a Residual Current Device?
Residual Current Devices (RCD) recognise dangerous fault currents that, for example, can occur by the touching of damaged cable insulation or defective devices. It breaks the active conductor from the power supply in fractions of a second and provides reliable protection from dangerous electric accidents.
