Cable reels for the construction site

The distribution of electricity on construction and assembly sites brings its own requirements and not least hazards. Therefore, electrical equipment such as cable drums for construction sites should meet the requirements of DGUV Information 203-006 (formerly BGI 608). This information regulation, which is valid for Germany, governs the selection and operation of electrical systems and equipment on construction and assembly sites, as electrical equipment there is exposed to a high degree of damaging mechanical or thermal effects from the outside, such as impact and shock stress, conductive dust and moisture. Therefore, special protective measures are required because there is an increased risk potential due to the above-mentioned influences.

Safety when working with electricity

Accordingly, among other things, only cable reels may be used in which the carrying handle, crank handle and reel are made of insulating material or are covered with insulating material to prevent a damaged cable from causing a dangerous contact voltage on construction parts that can be touched over a large area. Another requirement for a construction site cable drum is the cable. This cable must be either an oil-resistant H07RN-F cable with a cable sheath made of neoprene rubber and a natural or synthetic rubber insulating sleeve or a H07BQ-F cable with a cable sheath made of polyurethane and a synthetic rubber insulating sleeve such as the Brennenstuhl BREMAXX PUR cable. In addition, construction site cable reels are equipped with an integrated protective alignment to prevent excessive heating of the cable and thus a potential fire hazard. Nevertheless, the cable should always be completely unwound from the drum even with a cable drum.

brennenstuhl® cable reels certified according to BGI 608 also meet the requirements of information leaflet 203-005 (formerly BGI 600) according to category K2 when used in workplaces where this equipment is exposed to an increased degree to mechanical, physical or chemical effects, e.g. in industry, on construction sites and in workshops.

For easy recognition, the certified brennenstuhl® cable reels are equipped with this symbol created by us.
