Matter Smart Home and Brennenstuhl Connect

Allies for a Connected Future: Matter as the new communication standard for smart homes?

Smart Home improves control over a living space. The functions of our flats and houses can be controlled in a highly individualised way. For example, lighting, heating, security systems and a wide range of household appliances can be networked and operated through automation and remote control.

The world of smart homes has grown into a large pool of devices and providers. The increasing number of devices in our households is leading to a growing need for intelligent networking across different smart home manufacturers.

The problem: Numerous providers limit flexibility due to a lack of sufficient compatibility and also make things less clear for the consumer. The solution?

Matter Smart Home

Matter - An open communication standard without compromises

Matter counteracts this problem of oversupply. In October 2022, the Connectivity Standard Alliance (CSA) published version 1.0 of Matter, a new technology for smart home products.

The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) includes global players such as Apple, Amazon, Google and Samsung. Well-known products and systems such as HomeKit, Alexa and Google Assistant want to support Matter as a new standard. The alliance now consists of over 300 companies.

Within the Matter smart home system, smart home-enabled products from different brands can be networked with each other. There will be on outstanding advantage for the user: with Matter, the provider, which you purchased your smart gadgets from, no longer matters. As long as the devices are equipped with Matter technology, they communicate with each other via Matter and can be linked individually.

brennenstuhl®Connect as part of Matter Smart Home - For a simple, manufacturer-independent smart home

  • brennenstuhl® is a member of the CSA. The first brennenstuhl®Connect smart home gadgets with Matter will be available in 2024.
  • The brennenstuhl®Connect gadgets with Matter compatibility will be compatible with all Matter-enabled products on the market, regardless of manufacturer.
  • In addition, our brennenstuhl®Connect devices can be integrated into the apps of the alliance members.
  • This allows users to customise their everyday experience for a smart and connected home without being dependent on one brand or different apps.
