Product tester Susanne (teacher, 43) put our Comfort-Line remote control set through its paces and, in doing so, gave her father Peter a more comfortable day-to-day life: the 68-year old pensioner now controls hard to reach bedside lights and the spotlights in his workshop conveniently via remote control.

I recently carried out a remote control socket test and tried out the Comfort-Line remote control set from brennenstuhl® here. I found the set entirely straightforward and incredibly practical. In particular, I immediately thought of my father, Peter: although he is still very fit for his 68 years old, he finds bending and kneeling increasingly difficult – which, of course, he wouldn't ever admit to. I therefore tested the whole thing out at his house and gave it to him as a little luxury for day-to-day life.

Since there are two sockets for indoors and two sockets for outdoor use included in the set, we were immediately able to solve multiple problems: the lights in the bedroom and the lighting in his workshop. The switch on the bedside light is hard to reach, so the remote control is a great help here. The remote control sockets for outdoor use are practical for more than just garden lighting, by the way. My father also found them great for using in his workshop because there is a lot of dust here, and things are sometimes spilled. For this reason, the first thing he did was to code the spotlights here, which he previously had to turn on individually. The IP44 protection is also great for this.

I am sadly not very gifted when it comes to technical things, but I found installation of the remote control set self-explanatory: the remote control sockets are simply plugged into the socket where the device which you want to turn on or off via remote control is connected. You then simply need to press the button on the front side of the remote control socket briefly and then confirm the channel (A, B, C or D) with the ON button on the remote control. The coding is thus entirely self-learning. Thanks to the LED light, you also know whether the coding has been successful. By the way, using the button, you can also turn the sockets on and off without remote control.   The scope of delivery includes two wireless receivers for indoor use and two weather-resistant wireless receivers for outdoor use, as well as a remote control including battery. The whole thing is well packaged in a space-saving manner. The remote control sockets are fairly pragmatic and plain, the housing is made from robust white or black plastic. The remote control is pleasantly slim and small. At 25 metres, the transmitter/receiver range is more than sufficient for day-to-day life.

Incidentally, I added even more wireless receivers after the remote control socket test and noted that the set is also compatible with older models. I found the price-performance ratio excellent: you get a complete set which can be used flexibly at a low cost – which, on a side note, can also permanently store the coding even in the event of a power failure. This small investment brought us an enormous improvement in the quality of day-to-day life, two thumbs up for the remote control socket test!
