Chemical substances in brennenstuhl®-products

The safety of our products is an important aspect for us. In line with the information flow in the delivery chain required by the REACh (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) Regulation EC 1907/2006 we require from our suppliers the provision of chemical information and moreover have these information continuously checked by way of chemical analyses executed by independent, accredited testing institutes. We thus managed to eliminate hazardous substances such as PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) and REACh chemicals (also SVHC's) as far as possible from our products.

CE Marking

CE The abbreviation stands for European Community and documents a product's compliance with the relevant EU guidelines. Every manufacturer, whether located in the EU or elsewhere, must apply the CE mark to all products that fall into the jurisdiction of EU guidelines.

  

The mark is not aimed at consumers. The CE mark is an administrative mark. It is a kind of "Technical passport", denoting compliance with the minimal requirements of the EU guidelines - meaning the products need not be sent to a testing site. The CE mark is hence no proof of tested quality.

 

Certification Marks

Testing marks, as we understand them, are intended to help customers make their decisions. The testing mark is intended to provide orientation aid when selecting from the various products on the market. It is nothing less than a sign of trustworthiness for a product's quality and a firm's effectiveness.

The GS mark stands for "tested safety (Geprüfte Sicherheit)". To earn the GS mark, a manufacturer must submit its product to a testing site approved by the German Secretary of Labour.

The accepted testing site judges each product based on the provisions of the German Product Safety Act (Produktsicherheitsgesetz or ProdSG), accident prevention guidelines from the Employer's Liability Insurance Association, DIN and EN norms as well as other generally accepted rules of technology. This is combined with regular inspections of manufacturing facilities.

If all requirements are fulfilled, then the manufacturer receives a product-specific certification and may apply the GS mark onto that product. Annual inspections of the manufacturing facility are conducted to verify the continued validity of the certificate.
